Be a Mentor
An integral part of all Unlocking Futures programs is the adult volunteer who becomes a Mentor. Volunteers are trained using a specific and effective curriculum, designed by us, to maximize each young person's chance to succeed. Each mentor develops a one-on-one relationship to support the youth, identify their needs, and declare personal projects with a timeline.
Mentor candidates are preferably 21 years or older, in college, have a college degree or a history of stable employment. The employment history requirement ensures that Mentors are committed for the "long haul" and not just the initial "thrill" of being a mentor.
